Described as a 'winter warmer' this is a rich ale with a very smooth feel, dark & slightly nutty flavour and delicious aroma. It reminds me very much of the parkin cake my Lancashire grandma used to bake, a soft cake make from oatmeal and molasses with ginger and treacle. Good, strong stuff - ideal for supping round an open fire while your mittens defrost.
